5 Netflix Hacks that You Should Know

I can’t even imagine my life in the pre-Netflix Era. The streaming platform has brought so much change in the field of entertainment that imagining your life without it seems impossible. Though there are other players in the market, Netflix always seems to be everyone’s favourite. The reason for the same is obvious, the wide collection of shows and movies and the superb interface. Another reason that could credit to the extreme popularity of the media is social media. Shared recommendations among social media users and Netflix’s advertisement strategies stand behind it. While most of us use and love Netflix, are we really making the most out of it? Here are 5 Netflix Hacks that You Should Know.

Use VPN to Access Netflix of other countries

If you didn’t know it already, Netflix looks different in different countries. The shows and movies available on the platform can vary from region to region. So, the app you are using in India might not have the same shows and movies as your cousin’s Netflix in the USA. However, that doesn’t mean that you cannot watch the said shows from another region. In order to access Netflix data from other regions all you have to do is install a VPN on your device. You can make use of it whenever you wish to switch countries on your Netflix. As Netflix usually blocks most free VPNs, try using a paid one, or go for a hit and trial with the free ones.

Use Keyboard Shortcuts while Streaming Netflix

While most of us know that we can pause the show using the spacebar, we still head to the mouse. It is common as most streamers are not used to or aware of the Keyboard Shortcuts. Well, these shortcuts can make your life a lot easier. So, it is time that you learn the popular shortcuts available on the streaming platform.

  • The first is obviously the Space Button for playing or pausing.
  • F/Ess to Enter or exit the full-screen mode.
  • The Left/right arrow to Rewind/fast-forward ten seconds.
  • The Up/Down arrow to increase/decrease the volume.
  • Finally, S to skip the intro. (I personally love this one).

Make Use of Chrome Extensions on Your PC

There are a wide variety of extensions available at your disposal on Chrome, to make your Netflix Streaming a whole lot easier. You can use the Netflix Party Chrome Extension to watch shows with your loved ones even when you are not in the same place. You can add up to 50 people on the extension and chat in real-time while watching a show. Other than this popular extension, there are others that will assist you in everything from skipping the intro to customising the platform altogether.

Make use of Netflix Secret Codes

This is definitely the least known among the 5 Netflix Hacks that You Should Know. It works by helping you find exactly what you are looking for. Many times Netflix recommendations don’t seem to grasp our interests. How can we complain, it is a machine after all, but that doesn’t mean that we need to compromise. Searching from the big collection under every genre can be tough and therefore you can use the Netflix Secret Codes instead. You can add the code in the address bar of your browser,  https://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/[code]. This allows you to filter, like using 9434 will result in only Cult Comedies. My favourite codes are Psychological Thrillers: 5505 and Sci-Fi and Fantasy: 1492.

Customise your Netflix Subtitles

If you use subtitles as much as I do, you will definitely enjoy learning that they can be customised. You can change everything about the subtitles, from the fonts to the colour by heading to Settings. Follow the given steps, to make your subtitles look the way you want them to.

  • Head to Account by clicking on your Netflix profile picture.
  • Click on your profile to open the settings followed by choosing the Change next to Subtitle appearance.
  • Once you’ve made the necessary changes, click Save.

Here you go, you have successfully learned about the  5 Netflix Hacks that You Should Know. Though, merely learning about them is not enough, if you want to make your streaming experience better. You need to put what you have learned into better use. So, go on try these hacks and thank us later.
