How to easily change the passcode on your iPhone

Personal data security is essential to every individual, and Apple has always kept that in mind. Modern-day iPhones come equipped with security features that make it increasingly challenging for others to access your data. 

Today’s iPhones have incorporated biometrics and facial recognition methods as the primary way to unlock your device; however, Apple always provided customers with the option of setting up a passcode as a backup at the beginning of your attempt to unlock your new iPhone. Throughout your usage, you can always change iPhone passcode and alter it to your comfort.

Follow the steps below to change the passcode on your iPhone at ease.

Step 1: Unlock your iPhone and open Settings.

Step 2: Scroll down the settings to Face ID & Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode, depending on your device’s security option. Select the one that applies to you.

Step 3: On selecting the option above, you will have to enter your existing passcode. Completing this step will lead you to a new page.

Step 4: Scroll down the page and select the Change Passcode option. You will have to enter your existing passcode before substituting it with your preferred one.

Step 5: You can enter the new passcode containing the same configuration as the previous one or choose a new one through Passcode Options, which includes Custom Alphanumeric Code, Custom Numeric Code, or 4-Digit Numeric Code. Select the suitable option, enter your new favoured passcode, and verify it.

While using your iPhone, Apple will often ask you to save your data through iPhone backup. If you have already done that, then there is no reason to worry. Using the Recovery Mode, you can restart your iPhone from iTunes without a passcode, but your data will get eradicated. You can restore the data only if you have backed up your iPhone earlier; else, you will lose your data and have access to a fresh iPhone.

Additionally, you will also need your Apple ID and password used for setting up your iPhone. You will need to ensure that your device has at least a 20 percent charge. To restore, follow the steps below:

Step 2: Open iTunes and force-restart your iPhone.

For models without a Home button, press and release volume up and then volume down. Then hold and press the power button until iTunes appears on the iPhone. For other models, press the volume down and home button simultaneously until the iTunes screen appears

Step 3: You will get a notification stating to Restore or Update. Remember that your device will be installing the latest version of iOS and will need to refresh the contents and the software.

Step 4: Set up your device using your Apple ID and password, used to recover your data. Now you can either choose to set a new passcode or get rid of it entirely by turning passcode off in settings.
