How to fix Bluetooth problems on Windows 10

Bluetooth is absolutely necessary to connect devices wirelessly. Using Bluetooth we can connect your PC with the wireless peripherals like tablets, smartphones, laptop etc . It is quite common for your system to run into Bluetooth problem. That said, If you have problems connecting to the Bluetooth device you are in right place.

Bluetooth connectivity problems are mostly attributed to software or hardware issues. The other most common causes for the Bluetooth problems is outdated Bluetooth drivers, incorrect Bluetooth device settings and disabled Bluetooth device. Also, The Bluetooth device can run into issues if there are multiple devices trying to connect. In this article, we explain some tips and tricks that help fix common Bluetooth problems in Windows 10.

Fix: Windows 10 Bluetooth is not working 

Follow the below troubleshoot ideas to resolve the problem 

  1. Make sure your  Bluetooth is Turned On
  2. Restart your system
  3. Run Windows 10 Troubleshooter
  4. Update Bluetooth Device Drivers
  5. Reinstall the Bluetooth device 
  6. Repair the Bluetooth Device 

1.Make sure your Bluetooth is Turned On 

Before proceeding to the troubleshooting tips, ensure the Bluetooth is turned on. Most of the times the Bluettoh gets disconnected automatically after running certain software. Here is what you can do.

  • On your Windows system, click the notification icon on your Windows taskbar. 
  • Click on the Bluetooth icon and select Open Settings from the drop-down menu.
  • Toggle the switch On under the option Bluetooth. Make sure the Bluetooth switch turns Blue.

2. Restart your system

Restarting your system is the one-stop solution to most of the software glitches. It is a quick fix to curb memory leaks and closes all the idle processes.  If you are facing a Bluetooth problem, try rebooting your Windows system and check if the problem is resolved. 

3. Run Windows 10 Troubleshooter

If the problem still persists run the built-in Bluetooth troubleshooting tool. The built-in tool scans for a  specific problem and helps to fix the issue. Here is how to do it.

  • On your Windows system, go to Settings.
  • Navigate to Updates & Security. 
  • Click Troubleshooter and select Bluetooth.
  • Now click Run the Troubleshooter.
  • Follow the instructions on the screen and wait until the process is completed.
  • Restart your system and check if the problem is solved.

4. Update Bluetooth Device Drivers

Windows mostly update the device drivers automatically. However, you can install the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website if the Windows cannot find the right drivers for your Bluetooth device. Here is what you can do.

  • Go to your Bluetooth driver manufacture’s website and download the latest driver if available. 
  • Go to your Windows start menu and press Windows key + X simultaneously. 
  • Select Device drivers and go to Bluetooth.
  • Right-click on your Bluetooth device and select Update from the drop-down menu.
  • Now choose the second option Browse my computer for driver software and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Wait for the process to compete and Restart the system. 

5. Reinstall the Bluetooth device 

Reinstalling the driver mostly help to resolve the software glitches. Follow the below steps to reinstall the Bluetooth device.

  • Go to your Windows Start menu and press Windows+ X key simultaneously.
  • Click Device Manager and select Bluetooth.
  • Now right-click on your Bluetooth device and select Uninstall from the drop-down menu.
  •  Follow the on-screen instructions and restart your computer. 
  • Now the Windows will automatically install the new Bluetooth driver. Also, you can visit the manufactures website and check for the new driver. 
  • Once done, check if the Bluetooth is working properly. If not proceed to the next tip.

6. Repair the Bluetooth Device 

If the above solutions didn’t help in solving the Bluetooth connectivity problem, try Removing and repairing the Bluetooth device. This may come to rescue in resolving the connection issues. 

  • On your Windows system, click the notification icon on your Windows taskbar. 
  • Click on the Bluetooth icon and select Open Settings from the drop-down menu.
  • The window will display a list of Bluetooth devices. Now select your device from the list and click Remove Device.
  • Click Yes to confirm. This removes your Bluetooth device from your system.
  • Now, Restart your system.
  • After you login back to your system, head over to the Bluetooth settings again.
  • Click Add Bluetooth & Other Device.
  • In Add a Device menu, click Bluetooth and wait for your system to detect the new device.
  • Now click on your device to connect and allow the devices to pair.

Once done, check if this resolves your Bluetooth issues.
