How To Rearrange Comments in WordPress

Comments section in WordPress allows your website’s visitor to interact with each other. The visitors can not only interact with each other but they can interact with the author or the seller (In case of ecommerce platform). Comments section usually appears after the blog post on your website. Commenter’s name, the date, and time is also displayed along with the comment.

If you run a blogging site, then an active comment section below each of your posts, is a great way to improve your blog’s engagement. It can help you build a community. In the comments section, the visitor can give feedback, ask questions to clear their doubts, offer their own point of view and more. Similarly, if you run an E-commerce website then users can give their reviews about your product or service.

Any visitor with a valid Name and E-mail can leave a comment on a WordPress website. On approval from the admin, the comment is then displayed on the website. WordPress comes with a built-in comment system that allows for community interaction around your content.

If your blog has an active user interaction via comment, then you can also rearrange your comments according to your need. By default, you can rearrange your comment in two ways, i.e Older or Newer. We recommend all the bloggers to show the comments in the newest one order.

In this article we will help you rearrange, your comment section. There are two methods by which comments can be rearranged.

Method 1: Default Method

This is the easiest way to rearrange comments in your WordPress website. Go to Settings » Discussion. Under the Other remark settings, look at the last choice i.e. Comments should be displayed with the “older” comments at the top of each page. Click at the drop down menu and choose Newer. After that, click on at the Save Changes button, so that your new settings can come into effect.

That’s all, WordPress will now show most up-to-date feedback.

Method 2: Manual Method

You can opt for this method if the default method does not work for you. In this method, you need to make changes in your functions.php file. Copy the following code in your functions.php file or a site-specific plugin. This code makes use of the comments_array filter out to opposite the show of feedback for your WordPress website.

serve as bht_reverse_comments($feedback) {
		go back array_reverse($feedback);
	}
add_filter ('comments_array', 'bht_reverse_comments');

We hope this article helps you to clear your doubts. Please drop your queries in the comment section.

Also, if you want us to cover a specific topic, you can drop that into the comment section as well.
