Mobile Photography Tips for Beginners for Ios and Android

All of us are guilty of stalking aesthetically pleasing profiles on Instagram. Though many things back up an engaging Instagram profile, the factor common to all great profiles is quality pictures. There are some photographers and content creators who don’t compromise on their picture quality by using expensive equipment, but that’s not true for everyone. The majority of content creators still use their phones to get those mind-blowing snaps. Now the question is, how do they do that?  Don’t worry we have researched for you, and have compiled a list of mobile photography tips that will take your photography at home to the next level.

Make Use of Light

Professional photographers cannot emphasise enough on the importance of light. The best thing you can do is use the sunlight even for your photography at home. If natural light isn’t an option, then go for other light sources. Changing the exposure settings before clicking the pictures help your subject receive more light.

Pro tip: While taking a picture of a person, you can try different photography poses to make the most of light.

Adjust Focus

These photography tips will change your entire mobile photography experience. Once you have figured the subject that has to be the centre of attraction, you have to focus on it. The easiest way to do this is by clicking on the subject or using portrait mode. In some cases, though it is not enough. To enhance your subject you need to clear the background, this is especially vital for photography at home.

Pro tip: When taking pictures in direct sunlight, try clicking on different areas of the picture and not the subject.

Use Post-processing Applications

You can’t get a stunning picture without some tweaks. No matter how much you try but the circumstances while clicking a picture can’t always be ideal. Unless you live in a state of 24*7 golden hours, you need an app. There are apps available for changing the entire dynamic of the picture, our favourite is Lightroom.

If your light is perfect and you need help changing your photography pose, try Peachy. Another app worth mentioning is Snapseed which is a free app that does it all.

Pro tip: Try different apps to figure out what best fits your requirement.

Shoot Raw Always

This photography tip must be your motto. In this age of filters, authenticity is not appreciated much. It is majorly because filters provide an instant result, but they also deteriorate your image quality. Also, editing a picture with a filter won’t give you the expected results. Try shooting in the normal camera mode you can always put filters while editing.

Composition and Symmetry

The composition is often overlooked while the photographer is focused on other factors. This is especially true for mobile photography, the best way to do this is to keep the result in mind while shooting. There are various tools available in our phones to aid symmetrical photography. The grid feature must always be turned on to ensure symmetrical pictures.

Get the Angles right

The sad thing is this photography tip isn’t definitive but the good thing is you’ll be an expert at it through practice. Your shooting angle has the power to make or break your picture. It is always a good idea to try different angles before finalising the shot.

Pro tip: A model can be made to look taller when shot from a low angle while a high angle makes him/her slimmer.

Never use digital zoom

You should never take a picture with the zoom feature. Using zoom will only depreciate the quality of your picture. If you want to take pictures of little details then get your camera closer to the object. Move as your legs are the best zoom.

Clean your camera

Sounds like a no brainer, but it is most often ignored. We fail to realise the true potential of our mobile cameras with dirty lenses. This photography tip isn’t limited to the time you are shooting. Make cleaning your lense a part of your daily routine, you might never know when a picture-worthy moment arises.

Plan your picture

When you are not being spontaneous and clicking in the wilds. You need to plan your pictures to get the best results. For inspiration go back to the profiles you have been stalking or you could try Pinterest. Planning your photograph can take your casual photography at home to a professional level.

Pro tip: Search Pinterest or Google for photography poses and ideas that line up with the concept in your mind. Using a general search query may not yield the desired results.

That was the last on our list of mobile photography tips. Try incorporating the above to your photography and make your social media glow. If you want you can share your pictures with us, we would love to see them.

Happy Photography.
